Fleas test positive for plague near Flagstaff

So, do we all get flea collars? Seriously, plague has never really died out, and outbreaks occur from time to time. The good news is that it can be treated if diagnosed early. Let’s pray this version of Y. pestis is the ‘garden variety’. — PID

FLAGSTAFF, AZ  (AP)  —  Fleas collected from a remote area of Coconino County have tested positive for plague.

Coconino County health officials said Tuesday the fleas were collected from burrows that were being monitored due to a die off of prairie dogs around Doney Park, northeast of Flagstaff.
