Georgia and South Ossetia Trade Shelling Accusations

TBILISI — Georgia’s Interior Ministry has alleged that a police checkpoint along the South Ossetian administrative border came under “intense fire” on July 29 from the breakaway region’s capital, Tskhinvali.

Authorities in South Ossetia responded by saying that Georgian military forces had fired two mortar rounds in the direction of Tskhinvali.
