USDA Orders Nation's Largest Beef Recall

Apparently, someone from the area Humane Society shot a video of the abuse last fall! Why has it taken the USDA this long to put a stop to the meat distribution, especially since a large percentage of this company’s meat goes to school programs? — PID

Feb 18, 2008 LOS ANGELES (AP) — The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Sunday ordered the recall of 143 million pounds of frozen beef from a California slaughterhouse, the subject of an animal-abuse investigation, that provided meat to school lunch programs. /SNIP/ Officials estimate that about 37 million pounds of the recalled beef went to school programs, but they believe most of the meat probably has already been eaten.
