'Post' report on Jerusalem talks sparks fury

Feb 11, 2008 (JERUSALEM POST) — /SNIP/ As reported in Sunday’s Post, a senior Palestinian Authority official in Ramallah said that the Palestinian negotiating team headed by former PA prime minister Ahmed Qurei had been holding “secret talks” with Livni and other government officials over the past few weeks. “There are public meetings and there are secret ones,” the PA official explained. “The main progress has been achieved during the secret talks, particularly on the issue of Jerusalem. Today we can say that Israel is prepared to withdraw from almost all the Arab neighborhoods and villages in Jerusalem. Israel is prepared to redivide Jerusalem, and this is a positive development.” [Emphasis PID]

This ‘leaked’ news comes as Ehud Barak prepares for a possible ‘all-out assault’ on Gaza. It’s interesting that Barak’s name means ‘to bless’. Read Amos and Zephaniah — there you’ll find strong words: In these prophecies, we see God’s promise to obliterate Damascus and Gaza (“But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof” — Amos 1:7; “For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation” — Zeph. 2:4; and in Isaiah 17 we see “Behold, Damascus is taken away from [being] a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.”)

Also remember, that the seventy weeks prophecy given to Daniel (see Dan 9) involves not just the nation of Israel but also the city of Jerusalem. Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city (Dan 9:24). With all that’s going on now — we may very soon enter into that final week (seven year period). Don’t be fooled by secular leaders in Israel — God still has a remnant there. Prophecy is being fulfilled before our very eyes. — PID
