Israel Warns World War III May be Biblical War of Gog and Magog

Jan 9, 2008 ( US President George W. Bush said a nuclear Iran would mean World War III. Israeli newscasts featured Gog & Magog maps of the likely alignment of nations in that potential conflict. Channel 2 and Channel 10 TV showed the world map, sketching the basic alignment of the two opposing axes in a coming world war, in a manner evoking associations of the Gog and Magog prophecy for many viewers. The prophecy of Gog and Magog refers to a great world war centered on the Holy Land and Jerusalem and first appears in the book of Yechezkel (Ezekiel). On one side were Israel, the United States, Britain, France and Germany. On the other were Iran, Russia, China, Syria and North Korea. Full Report

It’s no coincidence that this article is timed just as Bush arrives in Jerusalem. The ‘players’ in this version of the Gog/Magog war are curious. This scenario seems to pit the Western Powers against the Asiatic Bad Guys with Israel in the middle. The West is not Israel’s salvation. Ezekiel’s prophecy makes it clear that GOD destroys the ‘King of the North’.

Ezekiel 38 says this: When Gog attacks the land of Israel, my hot anger will be aroused, declares the Sovereign LORD. 19 In my zeal and fiery wrath I declare that at that time there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. 20 The fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground. 21 I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign LORD. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. 22 I will execute judgment upon him with plague and bloodshed; I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. 23 And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’

With the tensions rising in the Straits of Hormuz, it’s possible Russia et al will indeed be dragged into conflict (Putin has a pact to defend Iran if attacked). Note, too, that the article says ‘Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced Wednesday a sudden trip to Moscow Thursday morning, where he will meet with Putin about Iran.’ To this we say — Maranatha! — PID
